Toyota no longer producing Diesel cars for Italy

Toyota Italy have made the announcement that their new car lineup will be completely diesel free. The company make the decision after the Aygo minicar, C-HR crossover and Prius hybrid which are already completely diesel free. Joining them will be the Yaris subcompact hatchback, Auris compact hatchback and RAV4 SUV. They are also introducing a fantastic incentive whereby if you trade in your old diesel for a hybrid, you will get the equivalent of 7,000 euros off the new model! News that is a little bit annoying to me considering I used to drive an Auris but traded it in a few years back for a Toyota Yaris hybrid. Oh well, you win some you lose some!

It is a pretty smart and predictable move from Toyota across all of their sales in Italy, only 6% were diesel models, with the RAV4 making up the lions share of that percentage. Either way with the percentage so low, it should be relatively easy for Toyota to make up for what they lose, and retain customers, especially with the introduction of hybrid incentives.
